We’d be grateful for a kind winter.
If that works out, maybe a sweet
season of green grass, probably
not more. This old gelding’s
back is a full hand lower than
his withers, not that he was ever
tall. His knees bent, disfigured
with arthritis. One of his shrunken
eyes has clouded over. He’s done
nothing wrong; just an old hay
burner. In his day, did he have a
young girl? He’s anxious now; too
many changes, too close together.
Settle, old man. Let’s stretch our
time here long, and call it home.

Beautiful. Is he your new addition?
Right now, it’s him and a donkey… fostered for the rescue I work with. Always nice to share a home. Thanks, Cyndi.
A gentle winter wish headed your way…Turkey for the carnivores this holiday season!
Thanks, Lynell, and every good wish returned.
ah yes. winter. a time of uncertainty for the oldies. he looks a beautiful soul.
He is, he reminds me of every old gelding I’ve ever known… stoic and kind. Good winter to your herd, too, Chris.
I will send you an Arizona winter. He is truly lovely.
Thanks so much, we all appreciate it, Christy.
What a beauty he is… happy he is home with you…
I promised to never photograph his full body… but he’s a beauty to me. Thanks.
He sure is.
I’m an anti-slaughter advocate. I keep my horses for their forevers; and this touched my heart!!

Well, this is his good side… but thanks, Celeste.
A beautiful and sweet old man. He’s in good hands now. Wishing you and your critter family a Very Happy Thanksgiving. =-)
Thanks, Deb, and best holiday wishes back.
Right now my oldest is only 24. But I have been the end home for many. I live in California so winters are pretty doable. I cherish my time with elders they are simply the best.
Agreed. This guy is slow to warm up but we have all the time we need. Have a great Thanksgiving, Tracie.
