It’s my life that is arranged, one gray horse to the next, with some bay horses in between. Do you categorize segments of your life by which horses (or dogs) were with you? Are the animals in your life a constant, while other lifestyle situations shift? Are you willing to arrange your life for their well-being?
Each horse in this photo represents a segment of my life, from 25 years in the past to 25 years into the future- not fully revealed yet. It’s an arrangement that isn’t always easy or predictable, but I’m so very grateful for my life here, no regrets.

WordPress Photo Challenge is a weekly prompt to share a photo- I enjoy twisting these macro prompts to share our micro life here on the Colorado prairie. My photos are taken with my phone. No psych, definitely not high tech.
I do in fact arrange my life [and my memories] by the dogs that have traveled through, with or around me. Am I willing to arrange it around them? I do, and the willingness grows with the substantial awards for doing so. They, and my kit kat, are sleeping right next to me as I write this comment. Warm breath, loyal love, completely vulnerable. Liberty at its finest.
And then there’s the discussions: “Last time I felt this was, Kyllan wasn’t finished yet, I think we were getting ready for the Santa Barbara show where he picked up a point so that would be…”
Our dogs always have been and always will be more of a constant in our lives than most anything else.
I expect no less from you, and hope to meet more of your dogs… maybe even longterm.
I like the multiple layers & meanings of ‘arrange’ ………….. & yes, I can name periods of my life by the animals that graced it:)
Such a wonderful post. Yes, I do arrange my life around my creatures — the least I feel I can do as they give me such joy, happiness and unconditional love. And yes, the memories associated with my animals of the past are sweet in their sorrow. Somehow I just never seem to get over the pain of those whose little lives are passed.
