“Curiosity is a sign of courage,” my trainer said, hushing my correction. Enthusiastic praise for my colt chasing her dog along a fence line. I’m older now than my trainer was then, but this longear’s weathered and wind-burnt face is donkey years older than both of us. Undeniable, I recognize that eye and the courage required to approach a predator with brisk steps, ears flat, and jaw wide open in a toothless screaming bray.

Sweet beautiful face – wanting to trust again.
It’s always the thing… them and us too.
There always seems to be a world of thought in a donkey’s gaze.
Yes, They are thinkers, for sure. It’s so interesting to work with them.
Thank you.
Bonnie Podraza Sent from my iPhone What a face! Very arresting. I can see the curiosity in his eye. I like.

Thanks Bonnie. There’s definitely a lot going on–especially caution!
I love that donkey face and the pricked ears!!
Thanks. She is sweet and cantankerous. Equal parts.
