State of mind: Here’s the last snow photo, it’s leap day, and we’re calling it lucky. The light is coming back warm. We’re paused and cogitating; coiling our strength because this season will bring changes. But the hibernating season is over…
The hairs are loose and we are itchy. Very, very itchy…

I know how non-peaceful the itching can be..but the photo looks very peaceful 🙂
It’s an itch that is on the brink of chaos. Thanks, Maria.
Ah yes – the itchy season! I remember it well – the hair that finds itself EVERYWHERE!!! Places where you cannot imagine how it would get there. But the last couple years of Chico’s life – I had to clip him twice a year – he didn’t shed – didn’t actually have cushings – but took meds for the symptoms. Actually, the act of clipping also accentuated the hair “travel”, too.
I like seeing the white hairs on the ground, kind of like a crime scene tape. “This is where the nap happened!”
I like seeing the wild birds picking up the horses hair and imagining them snuggling their babies in to nice warm nests.
Frances, thanks for reminding me that we aren’t the only ones who like to see that hair come off! Yay!
