Sorry, Elaine. Just saw your question. I’m in New Hampshire, U.S.A.

Sorry I’ve taken so long to respond. Life has been full of distractions for a while and probably will continue to be that way for some time more. I haven’t been able to spend much time at the Barn. Still interested in this and will go along with whatever is decided about location, format. Thanks!

It’s still only 8, but I have my coffee, and I do love it even more.

Elaine, this is wonderful! I’m going to go back to this again later (started before 6 AM; think I’ll probably love it even more when I’m fully awake), but today my mantra is going to be: “Have you tried doing nothing?”

Thank you for sharing your journey.

I’m Lisa, from New Hampshire, USA. I have been a part of my Haflinger mare’s life since she was born. She’ll be nine in April and is my first horse, gifted to me when she was 2 1/2 and I was 63. She is not the black Arabian stallion that I dreamed of as a child, the one that would gallop across the desert to meet me, kneel down and wait for me to leap on his bare back so that we could gallop off together, both of our wild manes streaming in the wind. Rather she is a sturdy round blonde, totally self-contained and no one’s lap horse. I think we have a bond, but as my friend says, some horses are Labradors and some are cats, and she is a cat: she’ll acknowledge my presence when it suits her. And my once long, dark hair now is short and grey.

I wouldn’t trade her for that Arabian stallion or any other horse: she has enough personality for a whole herd and no horse could make me laugh as often as she can.

I’m an occasional blogger and would like to be more disciplined. I’ve been writing since I was in grade school. This late in life horse journey is full of revelations that I’d like to record for myself and anyone else who might be interested.

Interested. I have been blogging very sporadically for years, would like to make it more of a regular practice/journal of my journey with my horse.
