I, Ruth, live in Lincolnshire UK. I bought a house with some land so I could look out of my bedroom window and see my horses. It was a dream I’d had for a long time.
So now I wake up and if it’s light I can see a horse or two walk past or if it’s the middle of the night and the window is open I catch the sound of a snort or a small wicker. Bliss.
My home is home to a small herd.
I have 3 horses, Savannah is 22, we met when she was 3 and a half years old. Together we have had many adventures, going on holiday in various parts of England and Wales. Today she is partially sighted and she has uveitis, which some days causes her great pain, which she bears with great dignity. We don’t ride but we share some quiet time where we just stand and pass time together. Listening to each other breathe, the birds sing, the trees swaying in the wind, the rain on the roof of her shelter. A moment to be cherished.
Finesse is 9 and she is a very spotty Appaloosa, I always wanted a spotty horse and she meets the criteria 100%. She has some metabolic issues and therefore isn’t ready for us to ride together yet. I live in hope that one day we will go for a long ride on the Lincolnshire wolds. She is very expressive, her personal space is huge.

My newest member to join the herd is Parker, his passport name is Oliver, but he is such a nosey Parker we re christened him. He is 6 and he is delightful. Chunky and cheeky and he makes me smile. We are getting to know each other.
6 other horses/ ponies also live here. Eli, Gracie, Aero, Cae, and Bracken and Arnie are 2 mini shetlands.
Two dogs Flo and Ebb and an elderly cat Yumyum also live here at College Farm.

In my head I write a lot but find it never seems to come out the same when I actually put it on the “paper”.
I have a blog on WordPress called View from a small hill, but rarely put anything on it. I think I’m shy of what folk might think.
