Weekly Photo Challenge: Juxtaposition

WMponypen

We have a pen for wayward ponies. People don’t always show ponies the respect they deserve. They often get manhandled. Ponies take offense and quickly become unmanageable. I don’t blame them, but then they can’t get vet or farrier care. Bhim (C) and Breezy (R) are visiting us to exchange some respect and training. We’re happy to have them.

Which of these are not like the others? Andante (L) is a well owned and loved horse who likes dressage and has a dry sense of humor. And a wild attraction to unruly ponies!

WordPress Photo Challenge is a weekly prompt to share a photo- I enjoy twisting these macro prompts to share our micro life here on the Colorado prairie. My photos are taken with my phone, on my farm. No psych, definitely not high-tech.

This blog is free, and it always will be. Free to read, but also free of ads because I turn away sponsorships and pay to keep ads off my site. I like to read a clean page and think you do too. If you appreciate the work I do, or if your horse does, consider making a donation.

  1. Although I’ve never had a pony/mini in my herd, in the past few years I have gained a new respect for them. They may be small in stature, but normally make up for that being large in pesonality and opinion. Some time maybe take a picture of them while you are on the ground looking up… then they will seem as large in stature as they must see themselves. They do demand every bit of respect as a Clydesdale does. Thanks for sharing :o)

  2. That second picture is just beyond adorable descriptives. Bhim’s confidence radiates. I knew a mini called Oreo who reigned tyrannically over an entire field of polo ponies.

  3. We have had our share of Shetland ponies and they have all been great with the children. I am sure you have seen the viral video of Socks, the pony with “hair extensions”, dancing for a mobile phone company ad. 🙂 Bhim looks a lot like Socks.

    • Socks Rocks! for sure. Bhim is a rescue horse, here from some training. He didn’t get a great start but is trying to catch up. I am sure he has a moonwalk for the girls when I’m not looking. http://www.rrhr.org for more information on this great guy.
