WPC: ZigZag

WMMane

A chestnut zigzag. Well, more of a wave pattern, but we are not very angular here. And this color isn’t one color, rather a range of color. Who cares? A horse mane, so what?

I am betting if you are a horse person, tried and true, this is your favorite place to put your nose. You want to lean in close and still, just inhale and be there.

If you are a horse person, you want this photo to come in a scratch and sniff version.

WordPress Photo Challenge is a weekly prompt to share a photo- I enjoy twisting these macro prompts to share our micro life here on the Colorado prairie. My photos are taken with my phone, on my farm. No psych, definitely not high tech.

This blog is free, and it always will be. Free to read, but also free of ads because I turn away sponsorships and pay to keep ads off my site. I like to read a clean page and think you do too. If you appreciate the work I do, or if your horse does, consider making a donation.

  1. When I saw this picture I thought it was the back of my sister’s head. She’s strawberry blond.

I showed it to my husband (on my small cell phone) and said, “What is this a picture of?” He said, “Looks like your hair.” And the coincidence is that I just rode my trainer’s chestnut mare today and I was brushing through her thick tail. Mark said, “That tail is really the same color as your hair.” So I commented on that’s why Rio and I get along so well and are girlfriends. “We’re both Gingers.”

  2. Just beautiful – I have lots of chestnut manes and am in awe at the colour range they have. Love the patterns horses present us with, and love their smell most of all 🙂
